Soubantika Palchoudhury

Dr. Soubantika Palchoudhury is an Assistant Professor in the Chemical and Materials Engineering department of the University of Dayton. She is passionate about designing new materials for energy, environmental, and biomedical applications, keeping Nano chemistry at the core. Her research focuses on realizing new materials through Nano chemistry for synergistic applications in photovoltaics and light emitting diodes, drug delivery, and precision agriculture. She has published 46+ research articles in the form of journal articles, book chapters, and books during her career . Her research has been highlighted in Nature and in various journal cover arts and has featured as Themed Collections in the journals of RSC Advances and Nanoscale Advances. She has led multiple journal Special Issues as Guest Editor and serves as a reviewer for 20+ nanotechnology journals. She earned her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from The University of Alabama and has completed her postdoctoral training from Yale, University of South Carolina, and The University of Alabama. Prior to joining University of Dayton, she also served as a Visiting and Assistant Professor at University of Tennessee Chattanooga. She has won an NSF-REU project, several state and university-wide grants, and collaborative projects with local industries. She has also founded an agri-tech start-up and has recently won a technology development grant. She is passionate about graduate and undergraduate student mentoring. Mentees from her group have won several prestigious national awards including the NSF Graduate Student scholarship, Tau Beta Pi scholarship, and the DOE SULI award.
